Domestic Abuse

Domestic abuse is an abhorrent crime perpetrated on victims and their families by those who should love and care for them.  Unfortunately domestic abuse is common, and can take many different forms including verbal abuse, physical abuse, sexual abuse, threatening behaviour, emotional or psychological abuse, controlling or coercive behaviour (including financial control).  Domestic abuse is a complex and specialist area of law.

We have considerable experience acting for individuals and families suffering domestic abuse and recognise the harmful impact of such behaviour on its victims. We always give priority to the protection of vulnerable adults and children, and will work quickly to protect victims and their children. This may involve obtaining non-molestation orders (or taking action regarding the breach of an order), as well as securing the safety of victims in their homes through occupation orders. We understand the damaging effects of abusive relationships and can refer clients to other professionals and organisations who provide therapeutic services to clients and their families. We also direct clients to explore the potential criminal remedies available to protect them from further abuse where appropriate.

We are also able to advise and represent clients who have been accused of abusive behaviour, and we are able to robustly defend such allegations.

We are recognised by Resolution as being specialists in this area of law.

We offer a free 30 minute consultation during which we can assess your case and advise you on the best course of action and the costs involved. We are here to help, so please contact us.
