Discrimination

For most people, work forms a vital and necessary part of their lives. It provides them with the means to support themselves and their families and helps to give them self respect and stability. It is therefore very important that they feel secure in their employment.

However, it is quite common to encounter problems at work. Arguably the most upsetting situations are those where discrimination occurs, whether because of age, gender, race, religion or sexuality.

If you feel that you are the subject of discrimination, you will want to speak to someone who can explain your legal rights and options with sensitivity and clarity.

This is where we can help.

We will provide you with comprehensive advice on what is likely to amount to discrimination, whether the facts of your case suggest that you are indeed the subject of discrimination, and what your options are.

If you have already been dismissed and you think that the reason for your dismissal was discrimination, we can advise you on your best course of action. In these circumstances, it does not matter if you have only been employed for a short while: you are legally protected from discrimination from the start of your employment.

Before lodging a claim in the Employment Tribunal, you need to contact ACAS to explore Early Conciliation. Only then can you bring a claim, and you must do it within three months of your dismissal, though this time limit may be extended by a further month to allow for the conciliation process.

We offer ‘no win no fee’ agreements if appropriate and can also act for you under the terms of your pre existing legal expense insurance policy, should you have one.
