Unmarried Couples

More and more couples are choosing to live together (cohabit) on a long term basis rather than marry. Many people do not appreciate that unmarried couples do not have the same legal rights and protection provided to married couples. Therefore, it is very important that if you are planning to live with your partner, or if you are separating from them, you obtain legal advice.

Our family team is widely experienced at advising unmarried couples. We can draw up a legally binding agreement (Cohabitation Agreement) setting out your financial arrangements when choosing to live together or what should happen if your relationship ends.

Julia Buckingham has a background in property law and specialises in cohabitation disputes and advising on the complex legal issues relating to property.

We offer a free 30 minute consultation during which we can assess your case and advise you on the best course of action and the costs involved. We are here to help, so please contact us.
