Furlough Scheme Extended (again)

Furlough Scheme Extended (again)

The Government have announced that the Furlough scheme, which was extended until 2 December previously, will now be extended to 31 March 2021. Employees will receive 80% of pay for unworked hours, likely to be reviewed for February and March. Full details will be announced on 10 November. Both the Job Support Scheme and the Job retention bonus are on hold.

Currently it is known that the furlough can be flexible, with employees doing some work.

Furlough can be claimed for employees or employers who have previously not used the furlough scheme.

Employees shielding may be furloughed, as may employees who need to stay at home with a person shielding.

Employees who were on the payroll on 23 September 2020 and who were made redundant or are no longer working for the employer, can be re-employed and furloughed. This also applies to fixed term contracts which have expired, subject to eligibility criteria.
